Pacific Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was formed in 2002 when Dr. Darren Tite joined Dr. Gerald Thurnwald in practice on the Gold Coast.

Dr. Thurnwald had been in solo practice at Tugun and Southport since 1996.

In 2007 the practice moved into new premises in Queen Street at Southport whilst retaining the rooms at John Flynn Hospital.

Dr. Greg Paton joined the practice in 2008.

The rooms at John Flynn have recently been refurbished.

All of the partners are Fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in the special Field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (FRACDS OMS). This postgraduate qualification is recognized internationally as a requirement for specialist registration in the field.

Between them the partners of Pacific Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery practice all aspects of the speciality which includes surgery of the face and jaws for neoplasia, trauma, and reconstruction. Commonly performed procedures include the removal of wisdom teeth, placement of dental implants and surgery to complement orthodontic treatment.
